Where do you currently work and what is your position?
Clough Pacific Joint Venture as a mechanical apprentice on the Cantilever bridge tool to build the Loadout Line Trestle for LNG Canada.
What trade and lHow did you first hear about the skilled trades and what inspired you to pursue it as a career?
Growing up, I was surrounded by people in the trades. Many of my family members and friends work in various skilled trades and seeing their passion for their craft along with their satisfaction and happiness in their way of life inspired me to pursue a career in the trades. Although it is not the most traditional career choice for a female, it is definitely an extremely accepting and rewarding one!
Describe what you love most about the skilled trades?
One of my favourite aspects of a career in a mechanical trade is the sheer variety in scope of work. I love the fact that no two days or two tasks are the same and that every day is a new lesson and experience that will surely keep the mind sharp. Another thing I love is the people. People in the skilled trades are the most down-to-earth, hard working, and friendliest I’ve ever met and I feel lucky to be a part of such a great industry.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time outdoors. My hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, camping, and golfing.
What trade and level are you currently What advice would you give to people who are considering joining the skilled trades?
My advice would be to keep an open mind to many of the different trades out there. In today’s world there are so many avenues of skilled trades and specialties that there may just be the perfect fit for you!
